Drowned Sepulcher
Katria has left with Hanna and the Joane and George. Initially they find signs of her struggle.
** Patches will see the below on patrol **
A town guard runs into town, alerting Mr Hangest who brings him to the party.
- She walked straight into the water. Didn’t even ripple.
- We called out—my partner shouted something. Then she turned.
- Gods, she didn’t say a word. Just raised her hand—like this—and he was eaten alive by flies.
- I ran. Climbed a tree and stayed till the sun moved.
- She was heading deeper. South of the old flood path, where the ground stinks.
Surrounds - Boss
The flies in this area get thick. They are drawn to your scents. Clawing at your backpacks and pockets for any crumbs. They bite and burrow into your clothes. Anything with a scent is being devoured.
The ground wobbles under your feet, and ahead - something has burst out of the mud.
Putrid flesh hangs loosely from their bones. Their skulls are completely devoid of skin, with only a few strands of hair and fungus remaining. Most revolting of all, writhing green worms crawl in and out of every skull orifice.
Round start: HARD Willpower check to not run away. Bite / grab: NORMAL finesse. Fail - HARD FORTITUDE check to be infected.
The lake lies still. No signs of life besides footprints leading up to the waters edge. The bottom can not be seen.
Entrance
Walking into the lake pushes you down. Any buoyancy is nulled. At the bottom of the water, roots open, causing a small airlock entrance.
Tunnels
The tunnels ahead are tiny, requiring you to get on all fours, squirm through the mud.
The tunnels continue forward, before reaching a small slide.
Chitin alcove. The inside of a old insect is nested up. A freshly moulted exoskeleton takes up most of the room.
Hanna - The kids - lie afraid in the corner. Malnourished.
Katria turns around as you enter.
I thought you would arrive eventually.
In the center is a crude effigy in the likeness of Karathrax. Remnants of his large collared cloak. Attached by glues and thread, are fragments of what you can assume to be his bones.
Don't come closer, or they die.
She is in a frantic state. Ever since his death, she has been trying to revive him. Nothing is working.
She falls to her knees and screams. She laments no god will listen to her. She is alone. Her prayers to bring back Karathrax as something, anything, is ignored.
She knows you are not loyal
You are not loyal to Lolth. Please help me. You can get back your loved ones - she can help you kill Lolth - if you promise to help her. Go buy a rare herb from the Bazaar of Vice. This Lungleaf herb can help her give him a voice.
The difficulty:
- She cannot enter Hell, as she hides from Abbadon, who she abandoned for Karathrax.
She can’t return to Hell. The Bazaar is under his purview. The faces, names and smells of all who enter are remembered by his watchers.
