Saltmarsh

Divine aftermath

After they choose their path, we cut to a month later. Time is moving weirdly. They are grounded, but often days feel like months, weeks feel like seconds.

Saltmarsh has resettled, and reports of the war torn lands from the campaigns of Abbadon are healing.

Life is peaceful, but you know that just beyond the veil, a threat lingers. The town though is unaware, blissfully happy. People dry their bedding in the morning sun. Children running down the street. Fisherman returning with fresh catch.

Jean, you just received a report from adventurers in the region that a new large tunnel network has been discovered, and hands you map, detailing massive tunnels that seem to lead to into the volanic mountain ranges to the west. There is an entire old civilizations ruins.

Kava (Star) and Iggwilv - depending on who they choose, they will be in Sneedles hideout, but assisting.

It is a quite afternoon. You are gathered in the tavern, Hannah has just dished up a bowl of the towns famous eel soup. She drops a scroll onto Taiyos lap. It contains the written recipe in detail on how to make it.

Hangest has largely taken over the operations of the town. He will barge in to say that the latest Shipment from Asara has arrived, and he is well on way to outfit another 100 men. He hands Patches something, saying it came from Asaras foundry. It is a small tooth, a vampiric fang. A small note with xoxo.

An old drunkard sits next to you. "You look tired. You alright? Been tough times, but nothing a bit of drink cant fix".

He has been having trouble lately, one of his woodcutters has said there is a small group of goblins, causing trouble. Chasing him away from the forest, even stealing his pile of logs.

"If you could please take a look? They are just north from here? Know anyone who could help?"

Clear next goal

Depending on who they choose:

Renaxis

The goal is clear. Hunt Mordenkeinan. He has fled likely to an old hideout of his, but he knows we are after him. He is in a tower setup in the Land Of Black Ice. He wants us to know he is there. We have no choice but to play his game. We just need to be ruthless.

Mordenkeinan

First objective is to steal the books from Renaxis. He won't let that go without a fight. We do not need to kill him, he cannot live for long outside of his world. If we can destroy his tomb, truly, then we could defeat him. However, if the tomb is destroyed all inside is lost, so we need to first retrieve them somehow. We should give it time.

A clue can be found about the origin of the aliens. They relate to the starfallen ore. They discovered in in the darkest regions of the astral realm. We should have known. An alloy so tough that divine intervention itself could not affect it?

Mordenkeinan says that their experiments with it lead to rifts being opened. However, it was so potent, the amount of magical energy that could be harvested from it.

It itself is harmless, and what is done cannot be undone. But there must be some further connection between this and the outer terrors. I suspect it could be used against them.
